Aerobic Exercise for Health & Physical Fitness

The benefits of engaging in a regular aerobic exercise program simply cannot be overstated. We all know that we should be taking regular exercise, but many of us fail to do so effectively or even at all!

Here are two important benefits of proper exercise

  • Aerobic Exercise Cleanses the Body of Adrenalin
  • Aerobic Exercise increases the Body's Capacity for Producing Oxygen

Let's look at each of these in turn. Firstly, Adrenalin: this hormone is a product of the Fight-or-Flight response.

When we feel threatened, our brain causes Adrenalin, Nor-Adrenalin and Cortisol to be released into the bloodstream. These hormones are carried around the body via the bloodstream and they signal the the body's various sub-systems to undergo change.

Here are some of the changes that take place

  • Blood Directed to the Vital Organs like Heart & Lungs
  • Breathing & Pulse Quicken
  • Nostrils Open Wider to Let in More Air
  • Pupils Dilate so You See Better
  • Feelings of Nausea

These reactions, which are known as the Fight-or Flight response, are hard-wired into our brain and they are design to help us to run away or fight.

Every single time we perceive an incident in our everyday lives as threatening, the body responds this way; and, if we don't do something about it, those changes will cause the body to be damaged - we will become ill! Aerobic exercise is the key to getting rid of the Adrenalin that builds up as a part of normal, everyday life.

Now second, exercise increases the body's ability to process oxygen - and this is the key to energy. If you are getting home in the evening feeling drained and worn-out, the body is telling you that you are not doing enough physical exercise - of course, it's the last thing you will feel like doing!

However, if you engage in a program of taking just a little regular aerobic exercise - that's the kind of exercise that raises the heart-rate a little - the positive health benefits are really impressive.

All you need to is two or three sessions per week! And each of those sessions need last only 20 - 30 minutes. Just think of that for a moment! That's only a couple of hours out of a whole week!
